Paterson Runs of Governer in 2010

September 27, 2009

Even though many have told him not to, including even the White House, Gov. David Paterson (Dem.) is running for the 2010 New York State Governor election. He is stated to NBC's "Meet the Press", "I'm blind but I'm not oblivious." Now, I believe what Governor Paterson is doing is okay. Every legal United States citizen has the right to run for office, regardless of what anyone else has to say. This great country was based on the ideas that everyone has a right to hold office. On the other hand, it was also founded on the idea of everyone as the freedom of speech. So people can say whatever they want about Governor Paterson, I applaud him and give him the best of luck during his campaign.

Has Barack Obama Forget About Immigration?

September 25, 2009

We all know that President Barack Obama has been hard at work to reform health care for all; but how has he handle the issue of immigration. What he has done is put it aside to be dealt with another day. I realize that the President has a lot to do, we are all human; the problem is that he ALWAYS has to look at the bigger picture and recently he has dropped the ball on with that. I'm not bagging on the President, I'm not being his mother; I'm just reminding us all that we elected him to be our President to look over EVERYTHING! I personally think he is doing a fine job as our President, but always has to stay focused to everything and keep the course. If we keep our attentions on one thing, we will lose sight of another and the dominoes will begin to fall. So let everyone continue to keep our eyes on the prize of all types of political reforms, even the President.

Michelle Obama Talks About Healthcare

September 20, 2009

This past Friday, September 18, 2009, the First Lady, Michelle Obama, spoke about health care reform. During her speech, she spoke about her daughter, Sasha Obama, becoming ill when she was 4 months old with meningitis. She pondered what she would have done if her family had not had health insurance during that time. Now, I believe health care for all would be fantastic; no one having to worry about not getting better when they become sick. But think about this, if everyone had health care would the quality of health care go down? I'm all for free health care for all, but if it jeopardizes the quality of the care, then its no go for me. I agree with everything the First Lady is saying, I'm just looking into the future of these situations. I'm all for free health care, lets just make sure the quality of health care stays the same.

President Carter's Racism Response

September 18th, 2009

This past Tuesday, September 15th, 2009, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter announced that South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson's (Republican) outburst had racial political intentions behind it. Now, I have reason to believe that part of President Carter's statement is true. Racism is a big deal, even in today's society. Just because our current President is an African-American does not mean that racism has completely left the country. Sure racial tension have eased, but they have not just left this great nation. I believe that Joe Wilson's outburst had some racial undertones, but that is not the complete reason. Just remember, Joe Wilson, a republican, yelled at President Barack Obama, a democrat. There is still those contrasting views between republicans and democrats, so racism may not have been the key factor. I'm sure both of these factors played a part in Rep. Wilson's outburst, but neither were the single deciding factor that drove him to state such accusations. Either way, Rep. Wilson's outburst was childish and uncalled for, making a mockery of himself and this great nation.
